MY OPEN DAIRY EP:13

If only you knew how much of a blessing you are! if only you knew how grateful i am that we crossed paths even if you just got to see my face for 2secs, even if it’s just on a social media platform, at least for that time our reality involved one another. No it isn’t a case of writers block or a lack of a topic to discuss or a story to share its just that i feel like standing on a building and screaming at the top of my voice how grateful i am to God, not for wealth, fame or power not even for health, but for Love!!! The love he so easily and genuinely poured on us all and the only condition is for us to accept it, how cool is that. This doesn’t end there he gives us a heart that can pass this same love unto others, the peace that comes with just loving others is inexplicable! Though all might not be right with the world right now and it might seem like a very dark place but in your own space your light is on an even just a ray from your light that passes through your window it just mi

INSIDE LIFE WITH GBEMI: THRIVE

Image
THRIVE!!! Recently we've been with hard times and cicumstances. From the pandemic across the globe to drastic change in the economy to various upheavals and uprising going around the world to even personal challenges.  You might be wondering what is actually going wrong or be scared or troubled. Well be rest assured because we have an anchor that holds even when the strong tides lift and the cables strain. Remember the cactus plant. Where other plants don't survive in the desert, the cactus grows not just grows but thrives. Hold on to the steady anchor that holds, the anchor that is deeply rooted in the love of God and then we will not only be assured of surviving, we are gonna thrive. FASHION TABLE WITH STEPHANIE

Image
HOW TO CUT A CIRCLE SKIRT A circle skirt is cut different from a normal flay skirt. Strange right? They look quite alike. Anyways, they are cut differently. Let me take you through the few processes required.  Materials needed: 2 yards of fabric  A short zipper or a long one (your choice) Suitably coloured thread Measuring Tape Chalk. Measurements needed: Waist circumference Length of skirt PROCEDURE I usually cut two circles,so I can get a fuller circle skirt (one circle will be for the front and the second circle will be for the back). 1. Spread your fabric out and fold it in two (fold the length of the fabric, not the yards).  2. Pick one edge and align it with the bottom of the folded fabric. You will notice a right-sided triangle has been formed. If you're cutting two circles like me, divide your waist measurement by two (this is optional), then divide the result by 4 (this is because your fabric is currently folded into 4 places). 3. Adjust your tape from the apex of the tria

ALKALI AMANA’S BOARD: PICTURE POETRY

Image
PICTURE POETRY The poem on the post's picture harbours the true story of a nation battered  more by a lack of understanding and commitment than anything else. It's pathetic how we have failed to live better than the past failing to recreate ourselves.  Hope lingers and strength will not fail. We must rise. I chose to praise and immediately a wave of unbelievable peace and joy filled me and hasn’t left me till this moment 🙌🏾 To be honest the display of strength couldn’t have been me but the peace that surpasseth all understanding❤️  If we really think about it we are usually sad, because we choose to focus on

AFFLICTED When finally we see That the gods have forsaken us We will sit up and tight Knowing we have sold ourselves  To the devil we thought  We were smarter than  The lucre we relish  Will no more have value The steam of stipend  Will only save the ones  We put there without a leash Naira will no more know kobo We must think extra We must tell ourselves that A wateryam is not all water  It only yields its nature That's its sense Except a thief Nobody will harvest for the farmer  Unless he is paid. *Tell me what you understand in the comment box...* Have a great week!  👤: Alkali Amana  FB | IG | Twitter: alkaliamana  Email: alkaliamana@gmail.com

THE SOJOURNER’S DAIRY: THE MYSTERY IN SIMPLICITY

Image
The Sojourner's Diary: The Mystery in Simplicity  The beauty of life is in its absolute simplicity and yet full of mystery. One day you feel like this is the one true path you're walking on and on another day you feel like you've gone the absolutely wrong way. A wise man named Cole once said; "the good news is, nigga you came a long way, but the bad news is, nigga you went the wrong way". You get? You don't? I don't too. I don't even know what exactly I am writing on in this moment but follow me a few more steps on this sojourn and probably, we'll get to find our way.  Simple but Mysterious. The circumference of our knowledge is so infinitesimally inconsequential in the ever expanding circle of the unknown. So in this very chaotic universe, what brings you balance? For some, it's faith in a higher power, for others it's the love they give and the one they receive and for others it's a trillion other things. But there's a teeny itsy

LIVE AS IT IS: A BEAUTIFUL MESS

Image
A BEAUTIFUL MESS II When we were little, it was easy to become anything we wanted. If we were treated differently, we didn't ponder much about it. We were asked questions like "what do you want to be in future" and as we pronounced our answers, it was so easy to see ourselves in that profession. With our white coat or our flowing black gown. Most of us never saw anything wrong with the way we were brought up. We didn't know any different, and so we followed the rules, the don't and don't. Those of us who dared to ask questions where given pressured answers. Mostly from the holy book and it felt right enough for us. For a while now, I've start to think differently. to see clearly and make judgement based on experiences . I wanted a clean slate but it seemed impossible and it seemed there were enough lessons to learn from the past I watched a TV show recently titled "Remy" and in this particular episode, a mother tells her daughter "I prayed t

FASHION TABLE WITH STEPHANIE: THE PERFECT FIT

Image
THE PERFECT FIT Fit is the most important factor in dressing well. And this is the case regardless of your body shape or size.  So, how do you guarantee the perfect fit? You take your clothes to a tailor. Because unless you have a standard body type, most pieces of clothing are not going to fit you properly until you get them tailored.  The neck might be too tight, the sleeves too long, and the shoulders too narrow. It might feel like it fits, but it won’t look good. This is where your tailor comes in. Find a really good tailor, build a relationship, and slowly get your entire wardrobe tailored to fit you perfectly.  Proper fitting clothes accentuate your good features and allow your body to work for you rather than against you. Is it cheap to get your entire wardrobe tailored? No, but even a few essential tailored clothing pieces will take you a lot further than a wardrobe full of ill-fitting, cheap clothing.  Ask any question(s) or relay any message(s) in the comment section or send

AUTOCARE WITH DAMILARE: Maintain your car during rainy season

Image
Maintain your car during rainy season We are already in the rainy season, so I decided to share some that could be helpful during this period. During rainy seasons the road are wet and there won't be a clear vision, so its essential that you drive the vehicle at slow speeds, turn on lights, and drive at a safe distance from the next vehicle on the road. Check the tyres Keep your car tyre in a good and perfect condition in the rainy days, though you should do the same for dry days too. If you want to have a perfect ride while cutting through water when it's raining, then make sure that your wheels have good tread. If they have shallow tyre depths, it won’t be safe to drive it in the rain, Check and maintain perfect tyre pressure for your car. It shouldn't be too high or too low. If you have low tyre pressure, then you may have difficulty driving through water when it's raining. Check your vehicle windows, headlights and windshields When driving a vehicle in wet condition

PARADIGM: TONGUE WITH LIES

Image
TONGUE WITH LIES I tried to hold back; Tried to be better, Be good; Always tough, Mama taught; I laid down my defenses, Told myself to be strong; If I am good, He'll never have to brood; First time he lied, Told myself, it was a prank; Second time, I thought I was at fault; He lied again, I broke and smiled at the sun; Strength in my resolve, I pull his tongue out, His screams filled my gut; Satisfied, and filled with relief, With a fond smile; I remember he was my first, I look down at my lover as his cries reach the stars; He is my fourth, Never will they lie again; And cause anyone pain, Now they know now it was in vain; In death and misery, I wonder who will be my fifth. LIFE AS IT IS: A BEAUTIFUL MESS

Image
A BEAUTIFUL MESS  Hey you,  Are you in sync with what is happening in the world today? 2020 started with a banger. I was in school when I first heard of the novel virus. Then of the Italian man who entered into Nigeria. I was terrified,  but it was brief. In my years on earth, I've never experienced such so I guess my concern was a little short. I thought to myself, it shall pass away. I still do believe that but then I was almost certain it was going to be more like a week or so. But now; here we are, still going through the same shit. Some of us have lost loved ones to this, some of us haven't seen family members for months because of this and then there are people who are stuck; physically, mentally. I know it's terrifying. It is for me too. I want to be brave and I want you to try to be too. It's going to okay. We have to believe that.  ......... In 2017, during my industrial training; I was going to work when I saw some people holding placards on the road. It was f

HAMZ MUSINGS: KARMA

Image
KARMA By Hamz Her breasts were like brown bananas. They were flabby, creased and maintained a long, low-esteemed downward slope. At the end of both slopes were pitch-black, erect and swollen nipples. The fat, dark pig of a toddler opened his maw of a mouth, braying infernally while clawing at the transparent feeding bottle which contained some misty liquid. I watched them with disinterest from across where they sat. Why the hell did she leave her breasts open? Now, I like breasts. Yes! Proud, firm ones that strain against the bra clips and immediately pop out of the bra cups as soon as they're released, daring you to touch them. I like breasts with dark, erect peaks sharp enough to puncture balloons. Not those weak ones that had to be folded up a couple of times and 'packaged', like ill-dressed African kids going to the White house. Not those weak ones that fell immediately like the walls of Jericho, whose fluids were completely lost to... 'Okolo', She snapped. '

INSIDE LIFE WITH GBEMI: THE DATE

Image
THE DATE Excuse me miss, miss... I heard a soothing, deep, baritone call while walking towards a taxi. I turned to see a tall figure walking towards me. The closer he got, I saw him clearly. The guy was fineeee... Tall, dark and handsome and from the watch on his hand he sure is not struggling. Are... Are you talking to me? I questioned. "Yes, please. I saw this drop from your bag when you were at the cash register." He replied. I looked at the pen in his hand, confused. "That's not mine", I said. "Oh really? Ok, fine. I know it isn't yours. I just wanted an opportunity to talk to you", he replied smiling sheepishly. " Why? I squeaked, my heart was fluttering at the the smile on his handsome face. "Well, I saw you at the mall and just felt the urge to talk to you, hope you don't mind", fine boy replied. Mind ke, you can talk to me anytime, I thought. "Oh, I don't mind" I replied. Okay then, I'm Dara. I don't

FASHION TABLE WITH STEPHANIE: UNDERSTANDING YOUR BODY SHAPE FOR MEN (part 2)

Image
UNDERSTANDING YOUR BODY SHAPE FOR MEN (part 2) It's painful how sometimes you spend your hard earned money to get an outfit; it looks great on the mannequin, looks even better in the bag you're taking it home in but it doesn't look half as good on you. Sometimes you end up tossing it in the back of your closet or it ends up in another person's closet.  Just as the shape of your face determines your haircut, your body shape should determine how you dress. It should take precedence over fashion trends.  Now that you know your body shape, let's talk about the dos and don'ts.  1. Oval body shape: With the wide waist, you'd want clothes that make the bulky part of your torso look narrow and slim you down.  That means clothes with horizontal stripes are out of tge picture, bright colours are also a no-no for this category. Checkered patterns and vertical lines are fine. Use the normal "slimming" dark shades for colours, it doesn't have to be black th

AUTOCARE WITH DAMILARE: HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CAR ENGINE

Image
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CAR ENGINE Your car engine does more than you think, so it needs to be taken care of appropriately so it can perform it's work   efficiently so as to avoid breaking down. Check the engine’s cooling system. The cooling system in an engine helps it keep the internal temperatures and transfer excessive heat out of the engine. The cooling system must be properly inspected every time when you plan a long journey. Metals and alloys, which car engine is made out of, are not very good friends with heat. Always ensure there is ample coolant in the radiator as it is very important for heat dissipation. The cooling system contains different parts, such as the radiator, thermostat, water pump and coolant. it’s a good thing to look at the engine temp gauge on a hot sunny day and shut your car down in case it’s close to overheating. Feed the engine regularly with new engine oil. To keep your engine clean, you need good engine oil. Regular changes of engine oil are vital. Eng

ALKALI AMANA’S BOARD: APERSONAL STORY

Image
A PERSONAL STORY For some weeks now, I have followed an early morning routine of going to the stadium near my place in order to exercise little, at least that was what I thought when I began. One major challenge that works everyone out is jogging round the track that surrounds the football field. In any event where an individual is able to hit ten laps, it means that individual is on top of his/her game. However, there comes to the same arena a hefty young man who jogs over forty laps, minimum, without tiring before playing football. People there call him a monster and they all avoid him. On my first day, I went six laps and I burnt out. I  thought it sufficed and felt quite loaded. I didn't meet the monster until my second day when I met him running the tracks. I was challenged. This was a ticket to improvement. If I could go ten with him, it only meant I had improved. Hence, I joined him.The first voices I heard were those of naysayers. Ah, o boy, you wan kill yourself? Wetin you
