Whenever he sees a successful person or the mere thought of it, h

OPENED MY EYES: THE SOURCE

Image
TO THE SOURCE Good evening dear reader! I'm glad you are here again today. It's been an interesting week  in Nigeria 👀 and even for me. Today we look at an age-old trick to solution-finding  : Going to the source. Question: if you want the best of Italian  shoes, where do you go? ITALY; best Chinese food? CHINA!!!!. How did I get to this point in thought? Well I'll tell you.  I've been learning two foreign languages simultaneously and by God's grace, I've been on top of it to say the least😎. People ask my secret and I tell them much to their annoyance in some cases "it's God". Crazy right? Wrong! Here's the logic, if you want to get the best of anything, go to the very source. Who is the source of languages? 👀👀 GOD!!!! There you have it😁. How does this concern you? Well that good thing you desire say promotion, good health, or even a great spouse takes its source in God so if you want it, you've got to go to Him. Good news

Image
9 FASHION RULES TO ABANDON IMMEDIATELY Good day beautiful people, as usual Style Zone is committed to bringing you exciting facts in the world of fashion, today i want you to know that it's possible to ditch the annoying fashion rules you've always heard about. Fashion rules aren't made to be broken — but since it's established that fashion is an art and  your creativity definitely has to come into play,  That's why it's called style, right? The annoying rules that you've heard your entire life about fashion: "Don't pair this with that." "Don't wear this color with that color." "Never wear  this during that time of year."Well, it's 2018 and we think those rules are ridiculous. Having a bucket or should i say laundry list of do's and don't's is dated and will get in the way of you showing off your personal style. Don't Mix Metals Have you been told not to pair a gold wristwatch with a silv

Grace David: Liberty series; Episode 2

Image
Episode 2 Bang! And her eyes flew open; she was completely disoriented for a whole minute until she was attracted by the fluttering curtains and the raging sound of the wind. It was about to rain again and she had left the French doors open as she always did when she was in the studio painting. She ran to lock the doors before turning to the framed life-sized painting of Jeff. Thankfully it was still intact. She decided to call it a day and turned off the lights before descending the stairs, Uju had left the television on again and who else would turn it off but her. The silence that followed intensified the hollowness in her heart, her eyes scanned the spacious living room that was tastefully furnished and she sighed, a lonely feeling that was all too familiar crept upon her. Jeff was away again, recently even his presence did little to fill the gaping hole in her heart, not that he didn’t try- the hole was just too big for a human to fill. If only I had children. She thought w

Alkali Amana's Board

So my people, while the President's comment on Nigerian youths is getting the buzz around and all, I thought to bring you a reflective post today. WHO IS YOUR DIVINER? There is a famed but silent story in the African tradition and narrative that brings to the fore a lot valuable lessons and a simple question which life thrusts at us - you and I. To whom or to what do you leave the determination of your fate? Think it through as I tell the story: Two men, to whom we will ascribe the traditional Igala names Ocholi and Akoji, went to a diviner to have a look at the future, in anticipation of what has been determined for them by the gods. Seated with eager expectations before the man who led their inquest into the future, news of their times to come was broken on the hard shells of their waiting ears. For Ocholi, it was told him by the diviner that the gods have set upon him a bleak future, lacklustre and wealth-ridden, where he might even beg in order to survive. On the contra

All the same I still hope lovers of poem get to exercise the  poet in them. Today I will be dropping a piece just for your pleasure. VICTIMIZED Slowly she built an edge, Fenced right about her, With bricks of carefulness, Fear and ignorance. And On her gate was a keep off signage. It worked; I mean her pledge, No invaders but kin were far, Despite her cheerfulness. The walls grew thicker with Her Endurance, Her defence turned her bait, Naivety; wisdom of her age. Now she wishes to fledge, For she is now a prisoner, Made of rawness, forcefulness Tinted with "undeemed" clairvoyance. But in regret she now waits For a poet to rewrite the page Of what she's become... Iπas... Remember all critiques are welco

Big Brother Naija(Double Wahala);Miracle Emerges Winner

Image
Big Brother Naija  season 3: 2018 (Double Wahala) finally comes to an end.   The show that has caused so much fuss and has been a big cause of discussion on social media, from the relationships built in the house, to the most antagonised house mate in the house who also trended the most and so much Aunty Cee C😂😎, and so much more.  The winner of the show was Miracle ugbokwe who is a Nigerian Pilot and was loved for his calm and easygoing nature. Cee C came up as 1st runner up and this came as a big shock to Nigerians who felt she should not be picked over Tobi who emerged as the 2nd runner up with a margin of about 8%. And Alex the dance floor queen and Nina came 4th and 5th respectively. It was a wonderful one towards the end though a lot of people are still of the opinion that the former housemates did better than this set of house mates. Check out reactions of Nigerians below:

Opened My Eyes: The Power Of Declarations

Image
THE POWER OF DECLARATIONS Hallo! Good evening and welcome to another session on Opened My Eyes. I hope you had a lovely week and weekend. Even if you didn't, it's a new week so dust yourself and attack it! 💪 Today we'll discuss the power of declarations and not just any kind of declarations but declarations from the anointing. To give a little perspective, I have this Bible passage for you :  On the next day when they had returned from Bethany, He was hungry. Seeing from afar a fig tree with leaves, He went to see if perhaps He might find anything on it. When He came to it, He found nothing except leaves, for it was not the season for figs. Jesus said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And His disciples heard it. In the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter, calling to remembrance, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.” Mark 11:12‭-‬14‭, ‬20‭-‬21 MEV Now notice in

Alkali Amana's board- The Drunkard part 2

Image
Hello readers, sit tight for the final lap..... ******************* THE DRUNKARD 2 (continued from last week) He was fully in his senses when he reached Paulina's shop. It was locked. He felt like sinking into the ground beneath him. The figure caught up and was walking towards him menacingly, the deep guttural sound still permeating through his terror stricken heart. So this is the end, his heart raced wildly and he could feel his body drenched all over with sweat while hot urine hung at the tip of his male organ. His wife had warned him on taking 'pami' but he would not listen. His brothers had tried talking to him but he ignored them, and now, here he was awaiting his end, but he had one option, yes, he could try begging for his life. He jumped to the ground in front of the figure and prostrated, "Please oh, plee..ase don't haa...rrrm me. I promise never to walk in the night again". The figure reached him and put a foot on his back. "Plee..

A Trip to the world of Fantasy with Inas

Image
Welcome to another lovely moment with James Inas. Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today I want to walk you down the line of how the most beautiful poems are made. You do not have to study the entire figures of speech and literary devices for you to write nice poems,(even though its necessary to have the knowledge of them). You must not read the dictionary back to back, knowing jaw breaking vocabularies for you to be a good poet. After all, what's the need of a piece if nobody understands it, or rather what's the need of a piece if the reader has to look up the meaning of every word in the excerpt. And trust me the best poems are made out of simple words. Now don't get it wrong, some poems are actually made vague intentionally for some reasons, which we may not discuss in this context. But for me the beauty of a poem is beyond the letters, words, format applied, it is rather "the deciphering of the realities expressed in word facades which give life". Just like
