HOW TO CUT A CIRCLE SKIRT

A circle skirt is cut different from a normal flay skirt. Strange right? They look quite alike. Anyways, they are cut differently. Let me take you through the few processes required.

Materials needed:
2 yards of fabric
A short zipper or a long one (your choice)
Suitably coloured thread
Measuring Tape
Chalk.

Measurements needed:
Waist circumference
Length of skirt

PROCEDURE
I usually cut two circles,so I can get a fuller circle skirt (one circle will be for the front and the second circle will be for the back).

1. Spread your fabric out and fold it in two (fold the length of the fabric, not the yards).
2. Pick one edge and align it with the bottom of the folded fabric.

You will notice a right-sided triangle has been formed.
If you're cutting two circles like me, divide your waist measurement by two (this is optional), then divide the result by 4 (this is because your fabric is currently folded into 4 places).

3. Adjust your tape from the apex of the triangle till you get the measurement you got after dividing into 4.
4. Draw a line across the top of your triangle where you got the waist measurement.
5. Place your tape at the front, middle and edge of that line and mark out the length of the skirt.

I usually mark three spots so the length measurement throughout the circle is accurate.

6. Draw a curve to join all 3 spots marked out.
7. Cut your fabric from the waist, down the last two folds of the straight side of your triangle, then the curve of the bottom of your circle.

Repeat the above steps if you're cutting two circles for your skirt.

8. Mark out the length and width of your band using your waist measurement for the length of the waistband.

Well done, you just cut the pieces of your circle skirt.
