YOU ARE THE CHANGE THE WORLD NEEDS: Wallflower

YOU ARE THE CHANGE THE WORLD NEEDS!! Hola darlings! Its another Monday and I'm sure you've missed me😉 Well, let's not waste anymore time.. Today's story is titled: 'All the Difference in The World' Every Sunday morning I take a light jog around a park near my home. There’s a lake located in one corner of the park. Each time I jog by this lake, I see the same elderly woman sitting at the water’s edge with a small metal cage sitting beside her. This past Sunday my curiosity got the best of me, so I stopped jogging and walked over to her. As I got closer, I realized that the metal cage was in fact a small trap. There were three turtles, unharmed, slowly walking around the base of the trap. She had a fourth turtle in her lap that she was carefully scrubbing with a spongy brush. “Hello,” I said. “I see you here every Sunday morning. If you don’t mind my nosiness, I’d love to know what you’re doing with these turtles.” She smiled. “I’m cleaning off their

SAVE MONEY WHILE LOOKING STYLISH: Style Zone with iStyle

SAVE MORE MONEY BY DOING THESE. Whether you’re someone who likes to stay stylish or you avoid the mall at all costs, you spend more than you think on clothing. Since longer-lasting clothing means more money in your pocket, be sure you do all you can to preserve your wardrobe. Of course, it definitely requires changing the way you treat your clothes . Fortunately, you don’t need special products to keep your whites clean and your dark garments looking sharp. Making Clothes Last 1. Start With Quality I don’t actually recommend buying expensive brand-name clothes, it’s always a good idea to purchase quality clothing. By spending more on quality pieces that never go out of style, you create a standard wardrobe with longevity in mind. Those quality investment pieces last longer thanks to thicker fabrics and better construction. It’s also a question of quantity versus quality. When purchasing kids’ clothes, you usually want to go for quantity, since the items are only going to fi

IDENTITY: OPENED MY EYES

Image
IDENTITY Heyy there!!! Another Sunday and so another post on your favourite section😁. I hope you have been well since we last interacted. Today it's about I D E N T I T Y "Identity". What comes to mind when you hear that word? I do not know about you but for me what comes to mind is "who I am". In my mind, one's identity is not the individual attributes they possess but the totality of those attributes. If you are Christian, African and intelligent, your identity is not any of these but ALL of them. Simply put, you are an intelligent African Christian going by my example. So what is it about our identity that's important? In all honesty? Not much. Who you are means less than KNOWING who you are in terms of actual outcomes. How do I mean? You're a king(that is who you are) but for some reason say you have amnesia and you no longer KNOW who you are, there are certain things that will be out of place. KNOWING who you are is very central to

OFFSIDE WITH JEROME

Image
Good day, and thanks for joining me on OFFSIDE with JEROME This week I will be doing a world cup round up as the grandest football tournament has just reached its conclusion with France emerging victorious for the first time since they first won it as the hosts 20 years ago. As a bonus I will be providing a rundown of the top 5 statistics that were on show at the 2018 world cup in Russia. So the world cup is over, the world has been released from the mass hysteria it has been engulfed in for the last one month of total football. The tournament opened with a goal fest as hosts Russia drubbed Saudi Arabia 5-0 and it was only fitting that the world end would end in another goal fest, this time with France edging Croatia 4-2 in a 6 goal thriller played out at the Luzhniki stadium. But once All 5 African teams  (Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia and Senegal) failed to make it out of the group stage, and no non-European team making it to the semis it became clear the world cup was hea

THE RUSH : Hamz Musings

Image
THE RUSH Good day leaders of thought and welcome on board to Hamz's Musings once again after my short hiatus from here. Today, Let's   talk about  PASSION, shall we? Before we continue, let me ask you this, "What is your passion? What do you enjoy doing, and so well too? If I handed over a microphone to you to speak to an audience non-stop for an hour, without preparation, what would your topic be? If you spend more than 60 seconds answering these questions you should be celebrating your eighth birthday soon. Congratulations. If a definite reply doesn't come to mind even after 60 seconds, you're most likely aimlessly avoyage in the vast ocean of life, bobbing with the swells and tides, at the mercy of the elements, anchorless and in dire need for direction. If your replies to these three questions are various non-iterative answers, you may be running a hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction. If, instead of thinking on the answers, you'

LIBERTY EPISODE 10: GRACE DAVID'S CORNER

Image
LIBERTY Episode Ten The rain drops hit the windscreen and his wipers did a wild dance in their attempt to fight them off. Aimlessly he drove around the city, twice he almost got killed because he couldn't concentrate. Finally exhausted both emotionally and physically he parked beside the road at Jabi lake and trudged dejectedly towards the troubled lake as the rain  continued dropping softly like delicate marbles. He walked with his hands in his pyjamas' pocket and was oblivious of his lonely surrounding. Stopping before the body of magnificent water he let the first tear drop and tasted its saltiness that won't be diluted by the rain. "Chide!" He cried hardly hearing his voice above the sound of the wind that plastered his clothes to his frame. He was his lovestruck self ten years ago, all spruced up and ready for a Valentine date with Chide. She had conceded after a lot of persuasion from Becca, her bodacious weirdo of a sister but now he stood beside his

WALLFLOWER: THE DIFFERENCE IN YOUR DIFFERENT

Image
THE DIFFERENCE IN YOUR DIFFERENT Hola Dearies.. Welcome to an interesting Monday and I hope you enjoyed the just concluded "Why worry" series.. No? Quick go back and check (laughs).. Well we'll be looking at a new topic and as I always do.. Read the story and enjoy!                 THE FISH BAIT During a research experiment a marine biologist placed a shark into a large holding tank and then released several small bait fish into the tank. As you would expect, the shark quickly swam around the tank, attacked and ate the smaller fish. The marine biologist then inserted a strong piece of clear fibre glass into the tank, creating two separate partitions. She then put the shark on one side of the fiberglass and a new set of bait fish on the other. Again, the shark quickly attacked. This time, however, the shark slammed into the fiberglass divider and bounced off. Undeterred, the shark kept repeating this behavior every few minutes to no avail. Meanwhile, the bait f

OPENED MY EYES: Who Is In Your Vehicle

Image
Who is in Your Vehicle? Do you Know? Heyy there friend, welcome to another week on the Opened My Eyes section. I hope you've had a great day so far. Today, I will share something very simple yet profound that I learnt(or was reminded) rather recently. Stay tuned!!! So it all started when I was to pick my friend up to go somewhere. I got to her estate and jejely went to the Visitor's parking lot because I knew I didn't have access to the estate with our someone on the inside calling the gate. After much waiting, she came out and we were on our way but then she realised she had forgotten something very important and so I had to turn back. On getting to the estate, I went straight to the gate. Why? I knew who I was carrying!!!!!!!. That was when it hit me. Imagine she was in my car but I didn't know. I would have gone to the appropriate corner for visitors but because she was there and I KNEW it, I had boldness. As a child of God, Jesus is in your vehicle a

SOPHIE TALKS - GRATEFUL HEART

Grateful Heart! Hello TellRhodians!! Happy New Month y'all. I presume the first half ended on a bright note. Mine did and I can't wait to share my experience with you but today I'll be narrating a hint I got from a friend over the weekend. Let's call her Sophia! I paid her a visit last weekend having not seen her in a while (work's got the best of her). We caught up on missed gists, laughed over the weird things we did in the course of the month and lamented on the tragic events that ensued in the "Centre of Excellence" and "The Home Of Peace and Tourism". In a bid to relieve us from the drain it had ingested to our countenance, I decided to lighten up the convo and inquired about her job. To my amazement, she responded amidst smiles, that she had been laid off. I was thrown aback and asked how she was holding up. Her exact words were "Nikki, just yesterday lifes were lost to a fire outbreak. These folks had their week all planned out I

MENTAL HEALTH TALK WITH TIANA: LOVE

Image
Welcome to " Mental health" talk with Tiana Hope you had a great day Today, we will be talking about Love. Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning. There are different types of love Love of children Love of self Love of God Love of a partner All of them have a different shape But all of them is the same in the end It's about sensitivity, it's about passion It's about unconditional giving of self to another person And there's love of humanity That's the love that is right now needed most Love of humanity and Self love But in everything, in all of that love, there is a soul. 20 things you should know about "Love" before the age of 20. 1. Self-love should form the foundation for every other love in your life. How can you be capable of loving someone else before you learn to fall in love with all the broken parts of yourself that you hide from the world? 2. Give yourself the love that you hold inside

A Trip to the world of Fantasy With James INA's :Filani Daniel

Image
Welcome to this week on a " trip to the world of fantasy " with James Inas. As usual how was your weekend hope you made the best out of it?. Over the week I was privileged to host an academic event in my department in school. It was more of an orientation and sensitisation of what philosophy actually is, and its place in all disciplines as well as its value to humanity. In the course of this lecture some other side attractions went down. And in a closing remark given by a lecturer I respect so much, he said " ...do not take whatever you do for granted, because you don't know the effect or the result it might produce". This was the major lesson for me that day. You might as well keep this in mind as you do whatever you do. And back to you the business of the day, because of the AJUMA series I have not being able to feature other peoples piece. Today I will featuring an excerpt from a writer I respect so much for his subtlety in creating raged atmospheres o

RELATIONSHIP TALK : Dear Men

Image
Dear men; When you look at various women, there is always something that you can admire until you wish to sleep with her, something different from your wife’s. May be it is boobs especially if she is yet to breast feed, may be it is hips, may be it is her lips, may be it is her complexion, may be it is her voice etc. If you think you can keep going for every woman you desire; you will never have enough because every woman has something desirable. It is like going into a hotel with all types of foods and you decide you want to eat all foods, you will just end up sick. No one gets enough of wine if you think you can mix all wines, the best way to enjoy wine is to drink just one type that you really love and enjoy it forever. Staying faithful has little to do with your woman, it has everything to do with you as a man. It is upon you to make a decision to stay faithful for the sake of the woman you love. It is up to you to treat one woman like a queen. A kingdom with more than one qu

OPENED MY EYES!

Image
HOW PATRIOTIC ARE YOU REALLY? Hello and welcome to yet another "Opened My Eyes" post. It's been quite a stressful week with a few lows for me personally and obviously for my beloved country but God is still in control, mighty on His throne. Today, It's about something disturbing that I have noticed several times as a person and as a christian. We have invested so little in our nation in many senses. The average Nigerian says what has Nigeria done for me or what has Nigeria to offer me? My friend you have the questions backwards. What have YOU to offer your country(wherever you may be from), what have you done for your country? How much have you prayed? How much have you stepped out where there's opportunity to ensure things are done right even in your little sphere of influence . I was at a vigil last night and several sessions of prayer were held and guess the one with the lowest volume and vigour: THE ONE FOR NIGERIA. One may argue that people were tir
