OPENED MY EYES!

HOW PATRIOTIC ARE YOU REALLY?

Hello and welcome to yet another "Opened My Eyes" post. It's been quite a stressful week with a few lows for me personally and obviously for my beloved country but God is still in control, mighty on His throne.

Today, It's about something disturbing that I have noticed several times as a person and as a christian. We have invested so little in our nation in many senses. The average Nigerian says what has Nigeria done for me or what has Nigeria to offer me? My friend you have the questions backwards. What have YOU to offer your country(wherever you may be from), what have you done for your country? How much have you prayed? How much have you stepped out where there's opportunity to ensure things are done right even in your little sphere of influence .

I was at a vigil last night and several sessions of prayer were held and guess the one with the lowest volume and vigour: THE ONE FOR NIGERIA. One may argue that people were tired already but the truth is I've seen it many times and it's appalling that we expect things to work when we leave them to chance. We are Nigerians and if you are reading this I believe you are a child of God(if not, He's calling you to sonship right now). We must learn to pray to God for things to be right and stay right NOT WHEN things fall apart but from the get-go.  We MUST learn to do our God-assigned tasks and involve God in EVERYTHING.

I'm tired of people saying "pray for Nigeria" or remembering to pray for Nigeria only when things have gone out of hand. Pray for Nigeria  when things are good and things will seldom be bad. We are in the news everyday almost for some form of calamity or the other. We have the largest population of people living in severe poverty according to some report. You may argue that it's not true but the fact that such a "mistake" could be made is cause for concern. We also have the highest number of religious organisations so SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG.

My people, Nigerian or not, wise up and rise up to pray for your nation. A somewhat popular verse of scripture says to pray for "Jerusalem". Your Jerusalem is wherever you are from. Like it or not, you can never be comfortable in totality when things are not right in your nation whether you live there or not, rich or poor. Consider your eyes opened. Have a fruitful and prayerful week
