A Trip to the world of Fantasy with Inas

Welcome to another lovely moment with James Inas. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Today I want to walk you down the line of how the most beautiful poems are made. You do not have to study the entire figures of speech and literary devices for you to write nice poems,(even though its necessary to have the knowledge of them). You must not read the dictionary back to back, knowing jaw breaking vocabularies for you to be a good poet. After all, what's the need of a piece if nobody understands it, or rather what's the need of a piece if the reader has to look up the meaning of every word in the excerpt. And trust me the best poems are made out of simple words. Now don't get it wrong, some poems are actually made vague intentionally for some reasons, which we may not discuss in this context. But for me the beauty of a poem is beyond the letters, words, format applied, it is rather "the deciphering of the realities expressed in word facades which give life". Just like it is said of a story, that it has more than one side, so is a poem. You may read some at a glance without puzzle and understand, but for some you'll neef deep contemplation to understand it. For instance the popular nursery rhyme:

" Twinkle twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky".

Can also be written thus:

 "Little Angel's lamp that blooms
  A mystery of ages
Sits a many miles from my head
  Like ornaments for heaven's decor".

Here both poems are still appreciating the stars. But while the former is simple and comprehensive at a glance the latter is complex. Also note that, Poems must not always have rhymes, sometimes while trying to rhyme, a piece looses its message and originality and consequently becomes uninteresting.

Now back to how to write a beautiful piece;
First, Discover what inspires you. What you can freely connect with,or what drives your passion to expression. Then make a piece with the simple vocabularies in your word bank. Most people that have read some of my works can tell that I'm a sad writer, depression, heartbreaks, frustration, unfaithfulness, the mystery of love and lust,anger,....and the likes are my poem drives.
Read other people's work. In reading other poets works, it sharpens your writing ability. And it exposes you to different writing styles. Share your poems with friends to get either critique or appraisal. This helps you to work and improve your self.
Try this few techniques and see the results you'll get.
Below is a poem inspired by a movie tittled "Outcast".
Enjoy!!!

*White Ghost*

The blackness is drawn close
Death's grip is dawn on me,
Angels once lived on earth
Shimmer their faces in graceful
Reception.
Time,go it must,
Death,come also It must.
A spear to the soul woke me
Into a blissful kismet.
All battles are with allies
But this is for freedom.
The course of others he bore
Now is time for his.
With his trust all on his blade
As he draws to kiss the blood
Of foes.
But for this last,
When victory is unsure,
Darkness calls,
Funeral bell rings,
Retreat is cowardice
The prince must live.
Go get the child !!!
His valediction was brave.
A master to a master
Who is master to one mastered
Them all.....
A war mercenary
Remnant of ancient wars.
He is an outcast.
