The Sojourner's Diary: Na your fault Bros!

Image
The Sojourner's Diary: Na your fault Bros!  You should never regret anything in life. If it's good, it's wonderful. If it's bad, it's an experience. I remember back in my days growing up, my grades were steady falling like my oversized Jeans even when I tried to pull 'em up. I struggled to be the best in the class and then one day came, and I took first position for the first time in my life (one of the most memorable days of my early childhood). This day was the same day El Rufai demolished our entire street in last gate, Karmo, FCT.  After then, the next school I went to was a UBE school in Zuba, FCT. This school gave me wonderful memories too. 😂😂😂 The first place I became class captain because I was the best student in a class of about 150. Well, my parents didn't like the school so they withdrew me and moved me to Commonwealth International School, Suleja, Niger State (forget the international, na very yeye school. Basically a public school gaan). An...

LIFE AS IT IS : EVERYDAY TIPS

Image
EVERYDAY TIPS Hey, there 1⃣You don't have to belong to the majority. If you are in a group; family or friends and everyone says "aye". You could say "nay" if you have a different opinion or don't support the "aye" stand. As we grow up from infancy, we try to find our place and most times without the right hand leading us, we fall. We should all know that there's nothing wrong in falling. Just try to stand up after you do. Decisions should come with thoughtfulness and this should go along with ethics and values and how they may affect others. 2⃣If you have a problem with someone, it is advisable to go straight to that person. Don't start by talking to others about that person. If you are afraid or wary of talking to that person physically, try texting, emailing. Go with caution. In as much as this person may have hurt you or someone close to you, he/she may not be aware of this incident. Try to let them see things the way you do. If this doe...

GLIMPSE OF HOPE WITH KENNETH ABOJE

Image
So, I listened carefully as this seamstress talked price with her customer over the cost of a work she brought. They spoke in Nigeria pigin- Madam, make I give you N1,300 abeg say no money and the tailor replied leave am for that N1,500 sef na manage and so they continue until the tailor finally agreed to N1,300.       The customer spoke on how she loved her work and it baffles me, if truly you love her work won't you pay so much for what you love? Anyways that's not my focus for this writing.        My point is, if you know you work and you put in so much effort to bring out the best then you've got to add value to it, you've got to brand and package it and not "manage it" because you put it good effort you sure deserve a decent pay. Those customers you're trying to keep by bringing down your price definitely pay higher else where if you must know.       In life, in business, marriage and in everything - don't let people dete...

FASHION TABLE WITH STEPHANIE: THE WARDROBE / CLOSET MUST HAVES

Image
THE WARDROBE / CLOSET MUST HAVES We started this discussion last week, so we'll just take a few more today.  1. Easy Jeans 2. Tank tops 3. Blazers 4. Midi dresses 5. Matching sweatsuits:  They were doing the rounds before social distancing, and while baggy and comfy are obviously still key, the sweatpants we’re adding to cart will be streetwear-ready when things are back to normal.   6. The Combat Boot: They’re both chic and practical. Use them to add edge to your jeans-and-blazer combo, then transition that same pair over to warm-weather dresses. Your outfits (and feet!) will thank you  7. Gold jewelry:  A chunky chain or pair of earrings can make you feel more put together for your virtual first date, while a cute ear cuff is a great way to add bling near your face if you don’t have any piercings.  Just to mention a few actually. If you have these in your closet then you're halfway there.  Welcome back to "FASHION TABLE" Always remember fam the goal ...

ALKALI AMANA’S BOARD: IN HONOUR OF CHADWICK BOSEMAN

Image
IN HONOUR OF CHADWICK BOSEMAN We woke up to the disarming news of the demise of an amiable character in the person of Chadwick Boseman, popularly known to us the man who started in the movie 'Black Panther'. I have followed Boseman since I saw the movie 'Marshall' and I must say he left an impression whenever he featured on screen. Not to say the less, his own life was an inspiration in itself and a path beautifully carved. I write in tribute to him right now with the hope that his family will be able to bear this heavy loss.  I leave you with a short bio: Chadwick Aaron Boseman (November 29, 1976 – August 28, 2020) was an American actor and producer. He played several historical figures, such as Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013), James Brown in Get on Up (2014), and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall (2017). His role as the superhero Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including Black Panther (2018), made him an international star, winning him an NAACP Image Aw...

FASHION TABLE WITH STEPHANIE: THE WARDROBE / CLOSET "MUST HAVES"

Image
THE WARDROBE / CLOSET "MUST HAVES" I know some of us are wondering why this is needed when necessity is the only "push" that gets us out of the house these days.  Well, if you haven't noticed, Life is getting back to almost normal, so I suggest you trade those sweatshirts in and get ready for the ride.  Easy Jeans: Denim never goes out of style and the Easy Jean (Free and high waisted) is giving new "classic" vibes. They go very well with cool sneakers or heels.  Tank tops: these tops are so versatile, they can be paired with a high waist jean, baggy sweatpants or midi length skirts. They can be worn under a jacket, checkered shirt(with the buttons open) or just alone. No wardrobe / closet is complete without it.  Blazer: A great blazer works overtime in a mny closet. It can be what transforms that outfit into "work suitable clothes", it can be thrown over a cocktail dress for that party. It can be used to replace a sweater or cardigan when a...
