Hello world, welcome to OFFSIDE WITH JEROME. Ramadan Kareem to my Muslim brothers this episode focuses on a quick preview to two of the major tournaments on display this summer: COPA America 2019 AFCON 2019 A big chunk of the biggest stars in the football world are South Americans hence the buzz around the COPA America; a football tournament for the national teams of from the region. This year’s edition is the 46th edition and will be hosted by Brazil. Of the teams participating in the tourney include, defending champions Chile, heavyweights Argentina and Brazil as well as the tournament’s most successful team Uruguay amongst others and the tournament will kick start on the 14th of June and will be on show through to the 7th of July. All group games will have been played by the 24th of June while the knockouts will begin on the 27th of June after a 3 day break. Super Eagle of the Week. This past week received a once inconceivable buzz around football generally as the 2nd leg of the UEFA champions league was played out in Europe. But whether it owed to the brilliance of Lionel Messi or to the kill Joy strength of the VAR it only furthered the point that the champions league is one of if not the most exciting football competitions ever. One of the most entertaining match ups was played out at the Etihad stadium when Manchester city beat Tottenham 4-3 on the night and still crash out of the competition on away goals rule, crazy right? Its Saturday again sport lovers and we have to get OFFSIDE again Here are the top stories -The Carabao cup third round summary -Barcelona unveil plans to update club crest -Chelsea host Liverpool in a rematch -5 amazing facts this week During the week, the carabao cup (the English league cup) served up some interesting match ups. West ham recorded an emphatic 8 nil beating of lowly Macclesfied town, Arsenal beat Brentford 3 goals to 1, Manchester City dispatched Oxford  United 3 nil, while an Eden Hazard inspired solo effort led Chelsea past Liverpool at Anfield to move to the next round. A couple of upsets were recorded first Burton Albion dumped Burnley out of the tournament with a 2-1 victory, but the upset of the round was saved for Manchester United who were knocked out of the competition by championship side Derby at Old Trafford after going down 8-7 on Penalties a game in which rookie manager Frank lampard defeated the special one and his old boss Jose Mourinho. ...

Good day, and thanks for joining me on OFFSIDE with JEROME This week I will be doing a world cup round up as the grandest football tournament has just reached its conclusion with France emerging victorious for the first time since they first won it as the hosts 20 years ago. As a bonus I will be providing a rundown of the top 5 statistics that were on show at the 2018 world cup in Russia. So the world cup is over, the world has been released from the mass hysteria it has been engulfed in for the last one month of total football. The tournament opened with a goal fest as hosts Russia drubbed Saudi Arabia 5-0 and it was only fitting that the world end would end in another goal fest, this time with France edging Croatia 4-2 in a 6 goal thriller played out at the Luzhniki stadium.
