FASHION TABLE WITH STEPHANIE:WORK THE WORK, TALK THE TALK (part 2)

WORK THE WORK, TALK THE TALK (part 2)

"Study to show yourself approved..." Everybody knows that line, but we streamline it most times. In every line of work there are accepted words or vocabulary for some things, using the right terms make you more professional and fashion is not out of it.

We had this conversation earlier in the year and I felt like bringing it back wouldn't be a bad idea, because the idea is still valid.

So let's check out a few words that'll spice up our fashion vocabulary.

A-Line :

A dress or skirt silhouette that is narrower at the top, flaring gently out to make an ‘A’ shape silhouette. Flattering on most figures in particular pear shapes.  Some people call this A-shape also.

Asymmetric:

An asymmetric design is a garment in which one side is long than the other. Asymmetric cuts are common in necklines, collars and hems. Some people call this "High-Low" and I feel obligated to correct them, just imagine how knowledgeable/well versed you'll look when you call the style "Asymmetric".

Bell Sleeve:

A bell sleeve is a standard sleeve that flares out from the elbow or upper arm to create a bell shape.  This is for all my people that have to explain the style, whenever they want to refer to it.

Bishop Sleeve

A long sleeve that fullness in the sleeve and is held by cuff at wrist. Personally, this is one of those sleeve designs that I always explain to people, but not anymore fam.

Cap Sleeve

A small sleeve (shorter than a normal sleeve) that sits on the shoulder.

Distressed

An area of fabric that has been artificially aged or worn. Commonly used on denim. We should all know this one sha.

Epaulettes

Ornamental strip of fabric on the shoulder. Traditionally used on military uniforms as a device to hold shoulder belt and protect shoulder during wartime.

Testimony time or Confession time, there are two words on this list that are relatively new to me. What about you? Did you know all these terms before? Tell me in the comment section or send me a DM on Instagram.

Welcome back to "FASHION TABLE"

Always remember fam the goal is to thrive and not just survive.

Love, light and peace always from this side fam
