HAMZ MUSINGS: UNKNOWN GENIUSES IN PLACES OF OBSCURITY By Hamz

UNKNOWN GENIUSES IN PLACES OF OBSCURITY
By Hamz

Usain Bolt is called the fastest man in the world. He is not.
Come along with  me.
There is a high probability that somewhere in one remote village in Kenya or city of the world, there is a boy whose sheer speed would put Usain Bolt to shame. There is a probability that that boy runs to and from work everyday. Spent his entire childhood running from wild animals. And then spends his adulthood running around his village. Running errands for people and delivering messages.

There is a probability that those who know him, smile and comment on how fast that boy is.

The people around that boy know him to be fast. But that boy is not known by the RIGHT KINDS of people.

There is a high probability that that boy will grow old and die and never be recognised as the fastest man in the world. He has a “better mouse-trap”. But he is a Genius in the Place of Obscurity.

Bolt, to me, is the OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED fastest man in the world. And he gets the accolades and results and wealth and recognition and endorsements that accrue to the fastest man in the world. Because he is known by the right kinds of people.

WHEN YOU’RE KNOWN BY THE RIGHT KINDS OF PEOPLE, YOU GET THE RIGHT KINDS OF RESULTS. When you’re known by the wrong set of people, it conversely follows, you will get the wrong kinds of results.

Young people are often inclined to think that the ONLY THING important to them is acquiring value. And then they expect that wealth would naturally follow them just because some motivational speaker told them that. They concentrate only on building a better mouse-trap. Then they expect the world to beat a path to their door. But it doesn’t happen like that.
See, some days ago I was in a conversation with one of the very few people I considered as prolific writer I have met,  I told him inter alia what I'm about telling you; that I think he is a good writer under utilizing his talent. Why?  Because I feel his creative pieces deserves to go beyond the street of Facebook alone.

A few years ago, I spoke about an uncle who I considered a walking encyclopaedia. In terms of VALUE, he was a power house. In terms of WEALTH however, he was comfortably poverty-inclined. He is walking proof that money does not always follow value- especially when you are not known by the right kinds of people who can PAY for the VALUE you have to OFFER.
There exist so many of us who are abound with so much talent far better than those we see as the best,   but sadly, most of us are UNKNOWN GENIUSES IN PLACES OF OBSCURITY.
