A SOJOURNERS JOURNEY 
Do you remember how these all began? We were young and our skins were dark but the funny jokes we used to laugh about are just not funny anymore. We were young kids of different races, colours and traditions but bonded by the black blood that pulsated in our veins - see how dumb you are? You're probably feeling like black blood translates to bad blood - Naah... I mean the blood that flowed through our compatriots from generations past. But as we begin to unlearn the divine knowledge placed in us, we adapt to whatever life designs as our paths. We learn religion. We learn laws. We learn fear. We learn sin. We learn peace and we learn war. We unlearn love and breed hatred and dogmatic repulsion of anything foreign to our train of thoughts. 
That didn't sound like a very good intro if you're reading this column for the first time, but if you've been here you're welcome back dear Sojourner and if you're new, please stay longer and join the Sojourners. It amazes me how a man can lift his hand to kill another man over a train of thought that most often than not was predestined by their parents' beliefs and values. My name is David and I am the son of a pastor but I constantly think of how easy it could've been for me to be born to Mallam Shehu and my name would've been Dauda Shehu. I'd probably have gone to an Islamic school, known half the Quran by heart and pursue the life of a pious Muslim. So if there is this reality of how easy it could've been for your life to have taken an absolutely different path from the one you're walking now, why then do we feel so confident about our beliefs and trust in the unseen power of God.
Well, I once heard a wise woman say, "Darkness isn't the absence of light, it's the conviction that the light would never return". We live in a cold dark world and I believe that there is a God and that God can be served in so many ways but can only be connected to him in one way - Love. I have never heard a truer statement than, "God is Love". And love is in every soul mate by God and can only be unlearnt by the Society's influence. And love is the only light that will take away the darkness in our world today. 
The world is facing dark days, and I had so many other stories from my diary I'd have loved to share but this burden stayed heavy on my heart. In these dark times, let us love, let us bond and let's come together. A little love here and a little love there would make all the evil disappear. 
Pray. Pray. Pray. Stay home. Stay safe. Spread love. Eat. Grow. Sleep. Repeat.

    We prefer to say we're Christians or Muslims than saying we're believers, Nice piece man.

NEW YEAR INSPIRATION The year is into full swing already Tellrheaders, but for all we have missed so far, I wish you a Happy New Year. There are a lot of things that come with the new year - resolutions, tasks etc. However, one must be inspired to achieve. For inspiration, where do you look? Lets take you back to the 70's, 1976 to be precise. The first movie of the Rocky series was born, produced out of a brilliant manuscripts written by a film actor who was struggling financially and had his backyard problems to solve. The actor and writer of this wonderful piece wrote the first manuscript in under twenty hours, after seeing the boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner. That actor/writer is Sylvester Stallone and today the Rocky franchise ( if I may call it so) is a recognized international movie with great acclaims, enough to earn Stallone a place in the International Boxing Hall of Fame in a non-commissioned for playing the role of Rocky.
