AUTO CARE WITH DAMILARE: ANDRIOD AND IPhone CAR APPS

Android and IPhone car Apps

Hey TTB followers, welcome to the beautiful week and I'm here to give you more update and developments on cars, join me as you read through this week episode on Autocare with me (Damilare).

Car is one the most important means of transportation, and some people spend more time in their cars. Now Google, Apple, car manufacturers and others are trying to get technology there as well. So as to make cars more user friendly and stress free
Listed are few car Apps, that are designed for perfect driving companion.

Waze driving app

Waze shows various impediments to your journey as well as charting your route
Waze is one app that’s made a huge dent in the traditional sat-nav market. Not just a route-planning app, Waze really excels in its reporting of active traffic conditions and real-time route updates. Waze relies on its users for information and gathers its data by crowdsourcing. In addition to traffic, it’ll show speed cameras, accidents and other impediments to your journey.

Android Auto

Android Auto is easily one of the best car apps around. It gives drives quick access to Google Maps, messaging apps, music apps, and other utilities quickly. It works two ways. The app can open on your device and work from a mount on your dashboard. There are also cars with Android Auto built-in. That puts Android right there on your car's touchscreen. In either case, it's completely free and usually better than what car manufacturers offer. The only downside is that Android Auto isn't included on a whole ton of vehicles yet. However, we expect that to change over the next few years.

Car Maintenance by myCARFAX

Car Maintenance by myCARFAX is a car management app. That means you can keep an eye on a bunch of things. You can see all of your maintenance and repairs from the app. Additionally, the app alerts you when it's time for additional maintenance or even to renew your registration. There is a mechanic search. However, it'll only show mechanics in the CARFAX network. That's likely a good thing most of the time. It's one of the better car apps to keep everything organized.

Smart dash cam app

Cost-effective: Smart Dash Cam is a free alternative to expensive in-car video cameras
In-car video cameras, more frequently called dash cams, are considered by many a must-have motoring gadget. They record all you can see and are even admissible in court as evidence. The downside is, they’re expensive. And that’s where the free Smart Dash Cam comes in: it transforms your phone into a dash cam, by using its camera.
You can specify how you want each recorded loop to last, so it won’t use up too much memory and you can still continue to use your phone’s other functions while driving. A great, free alternative to safeguarding your experience on the road.

Torque Pro
Price: $4.95
Torque Pro is an app for troubleshooting. It pairs with various OBD 2 devices via Bluetooth. It can then read the codes and let you know what your check engine light is. It's one of the better car apps for mechanics and those who can do their own car work. It can also keep track of a variety of stats from your car. That includes a GPS speedometer, alarms and warnings, CO2 emissions, and more. There is a free version you can try first. However, it was 2015 when it was last updated. The pro version gets more frequent updates. It's just something to keep in mind.

Drivvo and Fuelio
Price: Free / Up to $6.00
Drivvo is one of the most powerful car apps. You can keep track of basically everything. That includes repairs, maintenance, expenditures, miles driven, gas mileage, and more. It's especially good for those who drive for work. You can use this app to keep track of your expenses for tax season. It also has maintenance records with reminders when more maintenance is necessary. Fuelio is a very similar app and arguably Drivvo's biggest rival in this space. They both do more or less the same thing in different ways. You can go with whatever one you feel is best for your needs.

Parkopedia or JustPark

Parking buddy: take the pain out of finding a space with one of these great apps
Both of these are excellent apps if you want to park somewhere you’re unfamiliar with. Parkopedia’s interface is slightly more user friendly, but where JustPark scores highly is that you can rent out parking on other users’ private land.

It frequently proves to be a far cheaper alternative to pricey inner-city parking and multi-storey car parks. And when you’re not in need of a space, you can use the app to earn a few quid by letting out your driveway to others.

Travel bingo

Welcome distraction: Travel Bingo is the ideal companion for passengers on long journeys
Simple, entertaining and highly enjoyable; Travel Bingo is an excellent app to keep passengers occupied during longer journeys. This app presents various objects and road signs that you may see on a journey, and lets you click off tiles as you spot them. You can play on your own, or against other people.

Only small town tiles are free, but £2.99 buys you access to all motoring environments. It should keep younger passengers easily occupied for a while. It’s an Apple exclusive at the moment, but there are plenty of like-for-like Android options including Car Bingo and Bingo Journey.

DashDroid

If you don’t have Android Auto, DashDroid, a free app inspired by its slick setups and intuitive functionality, is the next best thing.

Large bold category buttons guide you to your contacts to make a call, music to access playlists, or navigation to open Google Maps and Navigation. DashDroid’s integration with “OK Google” allows you to keep your hands on the wheel while maintaining control.

Open Road

Recreating Apple CarPlay for iOS in an app comes Open Road. Open Road’s simplified and clean screen layouts make it easy to use, and you can customize your main view to put your most used icons, like calling your spouse, opening music, or activating maps, side by side.

Open Road costs $1.99 from iTunes, but has the capability to plug into other free apps, including Find My Car and Car Driving Recorder
