SELF-CONTROL
Good day people!!! Welcome again to the Opened My Eyes section. I trust you had an awesome week.

Today, we discuss an all important fruit of the Spirit: SELF-CONTROL. In case you don't remember the fruit of the Spirit or you played truancy at Sunday School,

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

I personally am all for living a life characterised by love but recently the Holy Spirit has been teaching me all about self-control.

Control over oneself is so KEY especially in the days we are where there is freedom of information and one's failures can be broadcast in seconds.

We must try by the Spirit of God to control our bodies and our minds. One thing I know teaches us that we are not bound by our urges is fasting. If you've fasted before and your stomach has growled repeatedly yet you fired on till the fast was over, you know that urges no matter how strong can NEVER override freewill.

You can ALWAYS choose to do right. It's not always easy but with practice and the Holy Spirit, you can learn to act based on what you KNOW you should do rather than what you FEEL.

This attribute of self-control is necessary not only to make it to the top but also to stay at the top. Procrastination for example shows a lack of self-control and more often than not we bow to it.

We need to examine our lives and try to do better every time. God help us.

NEW YEAR INSPIRATION The year is into full swing already Tellrheaders, but for all we have missed so far, I wish you a Happy New Year. There are a lot of things that come with the new year - resolutions, tasks etc. However, one must be inspired to achieve. For inspiration, where do you look?
