THE WINNING MINDSET GOES TO THE PRISONS

Image
Dream Again Prison and Youth Foundation in partnership with Elisha Mamman International are working towards empowering the incarcerated in Kaduna prisons. The goal is to curb recidivism by helping the prisoners to constructively utilize their time and energy while in incarceration, to add value to themselves and become productive members of the society when released. We achieve this by setting up libraries in prison and also through our progressive educational program that runs in three stages; Re-think, Re-form & Re-enter. The Kaduna prison inauguration comes up on the 2nd of April, 2019. Dream Again partnership with Elisha Mamman International is also expanding towards a new adventure across Nigerian prisons called  "The Winning Mindset Prisoners Rethink Program" This program will commence soon. We believe that- "When we educate and train a prisoner, we are making the society safer and better for all"

GLIMPSE OF HOPE WITH KENNETH

Image
Hi lovelies. My attention has been drawn to a story of a guy who committed suicide due to the fact that his girlfriend broke up with him. I believe you might have come across the story online. Now, I've been thinking and also wondering what could have happened that will lead to such a decision. It's easier read you know, “man committed suicide because his girlfriend broke up with him". You could imagine the comments it would attract. I also learnt from his story that he was a drummer and also a music director in one of the popular church in Nigeria, you can imagine. This guy, according to a tribute written about him was full of potentials, spiritual and has a promising future. The news of his death came as a shock because nobody expected it, he was a great guy, everything was in order (appears so). Suicide is not something one will just jump into. I believe this guy has attempted suicide in the past maybe twice or more but this wasn't definitely his first ju...

MAN UTD APPOINTS OLE AS MANAGER Manchester United have announced that current caretaker manager and former striker, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, has been appointed as the club’s full-time manager on a three-year contract by Communications Department. Solskjær scored 126 goals in 366 appearances for United between 1996 and 2007 and also managed the club’s reserve team until the end of 2010. He was appointed caretaker manager on 19 December 2018 and won his first eight games in charge on the way to an overall record of 14 victories and two draws in 19 games, amassing more Premier League points than any other club during that time. “From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club,” said Solskjær. “It was an honour to be a Manchester United player, and then to start my coaching career here. The last few months have been a fantastic experience and I want to thank all of the coaches, players and staff for the work we’ve done so far. This is the job that I always dreamed of do...

LETTER TO ME: (New Series)

LETTER TO ME Welcome everyone, to today's "letter" - quoted because you won't be reading any letter today... Or in the next few weeks. No. I would be telling you a story. One I believe you'd enjoy. And at some point, you may even get to determine how the story goes. Until then, I'll be your humble narrator. Sit back, enjoy, and let me know what you think in the comments. I'll see you next week 😉. PS: Characters, events and settings are a fiction of the writer's imagination. Any resemblance to person(s) or circumstances are purely coincidental. • Jane sat quietly at the restaurant and observed her surroundings. This was a place she had never been to, and so she had thought it best to come at least an hour before her date to get familiar with the place. But nothing could ever be familiar. No restaurant she had visited in the last seventeen months had been familiar. Arnold never let them be. He always made them go to a new restaurant every time...

ALKALI AMANA'S BOARD: Arewa love

Image
6 I smile now as I remember this part, a nostalgic curve up my lips. We had had hope, real hope of escape. I watch a ray from the sun hit my enclave, the little room I call home now. I push the plates aside and say a little prayer for my soul. I wish to bear this, more for everything that has happened. I return to my thoughts. We made our way through the paths, known roads we were used to. "Mu dan jira anan" We stopped "We will soon get a car" "Khalid, I'm scared " She drew close and hugged me "Don't be" I encouraged her. We saw a car coming and I waved. It readily came to a stop. I saw it when it got closer. The blue colour, tinted glasses, a modeled Honda almost everyone knew because of its owner. Three men jumped out immediately and pounced on me. They tore Farida away from my hands and pummeled me for some time. As I lay writhing on the ground, I saw a stature I knew very well drop down from the front Passenger's seat. ...

THE BEAUTIFUL GAME⚽

NIGERIA VS SEYCHELLES PREVIEW Nigeria could seal top spot in their qualifying group for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations when they take on Seychelles at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Friday. The hosts currently sit one point clear at the top of Group E going into the final round of fixtures and have already secured their place in the tournament regardless of what happens in Asaba. NIGERIA It is hard to believe that Nigeria have not featured in the Africa Cup of Nations since being crowned champions of their continent for a third time in 2013. Missing out in 2012 appeared at the time to be a blip, having finished at least third in five of the six previous tournaments, and they roared back from that disappointment to lift the trophy in South Africa one year later. However, the Super Eagles have been notable absentees for the past two editions and will no doubt be looking to make up for lost time when this summer's tournament gets underway in Egypt. A 1-1 draw with South ...

LIFE AS IT IS

SAVAGE. Uhuru. This is only thing you remember of your former life. What it mean, you don't know. You don't know who you were, you don't know who you are now. . You have dreams, deep dreams. In your dreams, you see three people in shadows. You can tell it's a woman, a man and a child. The woman and man look so much in love. It's not something you see but feel. It throbs, it growls at you. You know you are the little child, the couple with no face smile and laugh with you; you feel loved. You don't know them, you want to; but you do not see them. The couple are always in the shadows and the dream remain the same. . "Sold" you hear Moon Shine shout. He's your master. You have been with him for four years. He's the fourth master you have been with in this life. "Bad Omen, sold to Mr. Ryan" Moon Shine shouts again. The name shame you but you raise your head proudly. You feel the tears in you, you let your heart cry it out. You...

HAMZ MUSINGS: WHEN YOU'VE HAD ENOUGH BY HAMZ

Image
WHEN YOU’VE HAD ENOUGH by Hamz. "I am sick and tired of my life as it is. I don’t like the state of my relationship. I hate my job. I abhor where I live. I detest the grades I get at school. I detest my business. I loathe the country I live in. I don't like this. I don't like that…" I know a number of people who have said times without number that they have had enough of where they are; they are unhappy with where they are; they want to be somewhere better, someone better, something better, somehow better…only better. Let me quickly share a story. Several years ago, when I was younger, a memorable incident occurred that I have not forgotten since then. On a particular day, after some heavy rains, a young man went about his daily business hawking fried buns. Then something happened… just as he was passing by a puddle of water, a beautiful jeep raced by, heeding neither puddle nor passers-by. The immediate result was that this young man took his bath a second ...

PARADIGM WITH RYGLES: BURNED

Image
Burned Episode 5 "Nooo way!!! Let me tell you this before you get any ideas, there's no way I'm selling my body to survive," Chi screams as she's dragged to the doom. Chi is dragged by two men in masks and thrown into a dark room. Three young ladies come in, one of them lights up the room, the other two grab Chi and try to push her into a pit or so it seemed to her. She bites one of them in the ear, the girl screams and slaps her and the other girl tries to calm Chi down. "Relax, we are not here to harm you, you just need a thorough bath and we are here to help with that." Chi rolls her eyes, "I can bath myself thank you very much and besides how does pushing me into a pit help with that?" The other lady that was bitten smirks at her,"I heard you were smart, apparently that was an understatement. It's not a pit doofus, it's a bath, and it only looks that way because we are underground.I thought that part was really obvious....

LETTER TO ME: ON MATURITY........

Image
LETTER TO ME ON MATURITY... Dear Me, How are you and I hope you are feeling well? How's this weather treating you? 😩. With the way it's going, I doubt any one would think another mad, if one just pulled one's shirt. Just to let you know, I wasn't made for this weather. I'm leaving Nigeria, I'm going to Abuja. 🤣 Anyways, today, I want to share on maturity. Last week, I had a simple task to carry out at home. The "head of house" aka Dad, 😂 gave the instruction. As I did it, an older person in the house, insisted I was doing it all wrong. I insisted I wasn't wrong, only doing it differently 🤷‍♂. But this older person insisted. I was mad and so left it to the person. And then a thought just dropped into my mind. This maturity thing is not by tighting the world to your chest 😂. You know what I'm trying to say. Sometimes maturity is not by insistence on your way. Sometimes maturity concedes so other people's ideas can breathe. ...

GLIMPSE OF HOPE: VISION-THE FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENT FOR SUCCESS.

Image
VISION-THE FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENT FOR SUCCESS. Hello and welcome to the tellrhodes blog, I'm glad to have you join us today at “A glimpse of hope" segment.     Today, we'll be talking about Vision. Many us must have heard the word vision over and over again but I really want us to address it very critically.    Vision simply put is a goal, desire or something you're aspiring to achieve. In life, we have to not only have a sense of vision but work with it. Vision gives you a reason to live. Helen Keller said “the most painful thing to happen to anyone is to have sight but lack vision". So many have sight but lack vision just like so many can look but not all can see because it's one thing to look but it's another thing to see. Vision gives your life a meaning, he that plans to achieve nothing automatically wastes life, time and resources. You were created for a purpose and you need vision to properly align yourself to the accomplishment of you...

ALKALI AMANA'S BOARD: AREWA LOVE

Image
Hello Tellrheaders, the elections are over now. Let's focus on our story before now - AREWA LOVE. 👇 Here is the 5th episode. Enjoy. ****** 5 Who would want to suffer? Nobody, I know, but not at the expense of another's life and future, even as a father against his daughter. Many thoughts filled my mind for Farida. Finding possible solutions to her predicament, but all seemed flawed. Just one however appealed strongly - to elope. It seemed dangerous, but viable. She was 14 already. The elections were over now. Alhaji Umar's friend won, out of numerous accusations of rigging. That was not unusual, and of little concern to me. I was caught in between on my decision, to go away with her. But, each day the appeal got stronger. "What if we ran away?" I proposed to her. "To where?" She asked, a bit bewildered. "Potiskum, I have an aunt that will accommodate us" She was confused, I could see. The surprise on her face was eroded by the ...

THE BEAUTIFUL GAME⚽

Image
BACK FROM THE SHADOWS Zidane left Madrid having delivered success that was unprecedented in the modern era. The days of teams retaining the European Cup were long gone. Nobody had done it in the Champions League era. He did. And then he did it again, defying history and maths by winning more Champions League trophies than he had spent years in charge. The Frenchman won three consecutive Champions Leagues in his previous stint at Real Madrid, but things began to unravel almost as soon as he was gone. The European Super Cup was surrendered to neighbours Atletico Madrid in the first game of Julen Lopetegui's brief reign and it only got worse from there. Lopetegui was sacked in October but the problems continued. Any hope of winning La Liga was gone soon after. The nadir came last week when, after Santi Solari oversaw back-to-back defeats to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey, Madrid were humiliated in their own beloved Bernabeu by Ajax. The Dutch club turned back the clock let alone ...

LIFE AS IT IS: THE VOICE

Image
THE VOICE That's what I named the little sweet, soft whisper inside my head. It had came to me in my time of struggle, papa and mama were having marital problems and papa was going to take all his wealth and leave us with nothing The voice had helped us find evidence that papa was the offender and wife beater, the evidence had resulted in papa being charged with wife battery and his cheating arse had been sent to prison. . The voice had helped me in my math test in my form one in high school, I had been sick the previous week, the voice had helped me go through it. i had come out with a B, not an A but better than an F. . The voice had saved me from being fooled, in my last year in the university. I had caught my fiance with my friend in my room. The voice had helped me during the breakup. It helped get a job. It became part of me and there was a time I could tell it loved me. ------------- That was before it became aggressive. it all started with it telling me who to b...
