This week and for the next few weeks, we'll be delving into new words or new additions to the dictionary.
WORDS OF THE WEEK
Mankini: A brief one-piece bathing garment for men.
Example sentence
He wandered down the beach in his mankini, to the amazement of onlookers.
Manspreading: A man, especially on public transportation, sitting position with his legs wide apart, in such a way as to encroach on an adjacent seat or seats.
Example sentence
There's so much manspreading going on on my train; I think I'm going to start biking to work.
Matchy-matchy: Excessively color-coordinated.
Example sentence
The key looks stylish is to avoid an outfit that's too matchysentence
Meh: Uninspiring; unexceptional, impressed about something
Example sentence
I ordered a new dress online, but when I tried it on, Meh.
Mic drop: Deliberately dropping or tossing aside one's microphone at the end of a performance or speech one considers to have been particularly impressive.
Example sentence
I want a new clause in all future contracts; the next bastard that ends his show with a mic drop is gonna pay me three grand.
Microblog: A social media site to which a user makes short, frequent posts.
Example sentence
She announced her retirement on microblog , bidding farewell to the sport.
Muggle: A person who does not have a particular type of skill or knowledge.
Example sentence
When it comes to sitting and sewing I'm a total muggle .
Mumblecore: A style of low-budget film typically characterized by the use of nonprofessional actors.
Example sentence
She acted the role and wanted to get more experience with the mumblecore film.
