Letter2Me

Hey guys πŸ™‹πŸ½‍♂. A very huge WELCOME to the "Letter To Me" section of TTB. Last week, I decided to break ranks and not write a letter. Don't worry, there's no letter today also πŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌ. Just a sharing from some months ago. A life lesson i think, that we all should learn.

Some time in February, i decided to accompany my cousins to the welcome service organized for freshmen by one of the fellowships on their campus. While there, an older man πŸ‘¨πŸ½ (not so old πŸ‘΄πŸΌ) was to address the freshmen, as a way of preparing them for the journey of the varsity life. After praying, he asked that they be separated into three groups, and then he gave them all some materials to build a house with. Being a person interested in practical teaching, it peaked my interest. Before long, all groups had set to work, making consultations to determine how best to build the said house.

I watched the group in front of me. They hurled ideas a lot at each other. But for all their ideas, they didn't have enough materials to build with. The next group had all they would need, but lacked ideas. In retrospect πŸ€”, I don't understand this particular group.

And then when time was done, the speaker added 5 minutes for the third group, but then they too were handicapped, for they were, as it were, "understaffed". Then it was time for him to speak.

"Life will never give you a right time, right resources, adequate helpers" he said, picking his words very carefully. "There will never be anytime when life gives you perfect conditions. If it does, you must recognise the rare opportunity. The fact that life doesn't give you all you need shouldn't make you give excuses".

And then he said something that has stuck with me ever since. He said that "Excuses are not legal tender in judging failure".

Eccl 9 v 11 says in the latter part that time and chance happens to everyone. These are the lessons I learnt;

1. Life will never give you all the resources you need. Use the little you have to build the best house you can.

2. Ideas will be lacking many times no matter the number of people, so pick friends very wisely.

3. We're not all on the same timeline. While some will have achieved things earlier in life, others will do so later. Trust your timing.

Oh, in the end, the group with extra time won (in my opinion), though understaffed, they cooperated well. Which is a lesson we learnt before, that Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM).

Till I come your way next week....blah blah blah πŸ™„, y'all know the rest. Have a beautiful weekend!  #Whispers... Go and see Skycraper or Mission Impossible: Fallout.

Ok bye! πŸƒπŸ½‍♂πŸƒπŸ½‍♂
