Word of the week
Pedantic [pe·dan·tic]- Characterized by a narrow, often ostentatious concern for book learning and formal rules.
For example- A pedantic attention to details.

Slang of the week
Damp Squib — Something that fails on all counts. Reference to small explosive charges that fail when wet.
For example- It looks like the new midfielder is a damp squib.
